CCGT MAINTENANCE

Downtime caused by leaks or damaged equipment at Combined Cycle Gas Turbine CCGT plants gets expensive fast. Imaging Atoms’ advanced gas leak imaging and detection services serve as a useful and economical part of maintenance programs for Combined Cycle Gas Turbines:

Natural gas used as fuel in gas turbines is visually imaged and detected to aid with turbine maintenance and start-up. Gas imaging allows maintenance personnel to surgically pinpoint the exact origin of leaks causing lower explosive limit alarms to sound.

Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 leaks from substations and high volume electrical transmission systems are optically imaged from safe distance using infrared cameras used by Imaging Atoms. This technique allows for equipment to be running during leak surveys. Leaks of SF6 can be very costly due to the potential damage to equipment, and subsequent downtime.

Carbon dioxide is commonly used as a stand-by emergency response reagent located alongside gas turbines. This gas is also targeted during leak surveys performed by Imaging Atoms at CCGT plants. Quick identification of leak sources allow for repairs to eliminate CO2 losses.
